Senior Corporal Mark T. Nix moved from Forest Lake, Minnesota to Arlington, Texas with his family at the age of seven. At the age of 19, he joined the Navy before transferring to the Army. Officer Nix attended Chicago Moody Bible College for a year before transferring to the University of Illinois where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. He attended the Dallas Police Academy in 2000 and was a proud member of the Dallas Police Department for seven years.

Senior Corporal Nix was known for being skilled at paintball and enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved ones. He loved bike riding and was known as a jokester. Officer Nix found joy in making others laugh and truly enjoyed the company of others.

On Tuesday March 23, 2007, Senior Corporal Mark T. Nix was attempting to apprehend a murder suspect when the suspects car crashed. The suspect opened fire on Officer Nix from inside the car, fatally wounding him. He is survived by his parents, David and Cheryle; and younger sister, Renee.
